A little update
For those who are interested in the background stuff.
A couple of nights ago my son, my husband and I discussed the Public Sales for this year and, for the umpteenth time in the past month, I said something like, “Yeah, I haven’t updated the website, social media etc. yet, but I mean to. It’s on my list”.
I’m finally doing that today, and that will be my next post after I write this one.
Many of you know that we are a homeschooling family. We actually have a really good school in our town but we started homescholling almost 2 decades ago, before we even know where Walnut Grove was.
Some of my time has been taken up with Co-ops, and tutoring. And, this year, I’ve been taking my graduate around to audition, tour, and interview at area universities. These are important memories and shared experiences I feel honored to share with my girls.
But I digress.
Also, I’ve been enjoying my grandkids. They are the best, they are a hoot, and they get smarter every day!!!
In other news software issues for our shipping side of our business. It was a blessing in disguise. The software we were using for inventory managment was bought up by another company a couple of years ago. Over the past year they stopped supporting the software in a meaningful way. Then, before Christmas, they basically said “you have until Christmas to switch over to the software we developed. All of your inventory information will go…” Well I’m not sure exactly. So we deleted all of our inventory, which was a process.
But, like I said, it was a blessing in disguise because another book seller had created his own software and, long story short, developed it with my husband into the software we now use. We really appreciate him and he has been such a blessing to the business.
In other news, just when we thought we’d made it through the winter without burst pipe, we didn’t make it through the winter without burst pipes. So that was fun. how about you?
I did hear that the water pipe is going to go right through my flower bed (with my 6 roses), which is a great excuse to buy a Japanese cherry tree to establish a new planting bed for my roses (those roses were my Mother’s Day gifts last year from my husband, mother-in-law, and kids).
But e got to go to Chicago to visit one of my daughters during the coldest time of the year. It was so much fun and the lake was beautiful!
Lastly, as I’ve been trying to be a good wife, good mother, and good employee (business owner) at the bookstore, I’ve kept having trouble with my back and hip. The past four weeks I’ve done something to my back or hip that put me out for a few days each week. That makes me cranky.
Okay, thank you for letting me get that out of my system. 😀
The most important thing is,
I love my family, I love the business that we get to do, I love our community and our church here, I love our broader book community, and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone who comes to the book sales (and Book Club Members who are in and out when it works for them).
Thank you to everyone who comes to shop…
and all of you who spread the word about us, and who share the books you get with other people. We have a really neat community; we’re thankful for you!
Finally
Yay for Spring and God bless you all.
